Corkcicle is a well-known brand of insulated tumblers. They are advertised as leakproof, but are they actually leakproof?

In this article, I go over this and other related topics to have an idea of what to expect from Corkcicle.

Are Corkcicle Tumblers Leak Proof Overview

When buying a tumbler, you want something that doesn’t spill or leak. This is especially true if you’re using it in the car or on the go.

Corkcicle tumblers are advertised as being “leakproof.” But are they really?

Corkcicles come with double-wall vacuum insulation that is advertised to keep your drink cold for up to 9 hours and hot for more than 3 hours.

Corkcicles are also available in a variety of sizes and colors, from small ones that fit into standard cup holders all the way up to large 30-ounce tumblers.

According to the company, their tumblers are designed to be spillproof. This means you do not have to worry about the lid opening by accident.

However, the company also says the tumblers are not 100% leakproof. There is always a small steam hold located on top of the tumbler’s slider piece.

For this reason, you always want to keep the tumbler upright to avoid any spillage. To prevent spills, Corkcicle includes a sliding lock that will keep the lid from opening unless you want it to open.

How to Troubleshoot a Leaking Corkcicle Tumbler

In my experience using Corkcicle tumblers, and with the help of support, I have easily troubleshot any leaking issues.

If your Corkcicle tumbler leaks from where the lid and the tumbler’s edge meet, there may be an issue with the lid’s rubber gasket.

Ensure that the flat part of the gasket is resting all the way inside the tumbler’s rim. And make sure that there is no debris, such as hair or food, stuck between the gasket and lid.

If your Corkcicle tumbler leaks from its straw area, then there may be an issue with the straw itself. It is possible that the small holes in the straw are clogged and need to be cleaned out, or your tumbler’s lid could have debris stuck inside it.

Contact customer service for further guidance if you continue to experience leakage from either part of your Corkcicle tumbler.

Do Corkcicle tumblers retain temperature?

Yes, Corkcicle tumblers retain temperature just as the company promises. I found that my tumbler was able to retain heat for at least three hours.

They can keep drinks cold for up to 9 hours, so you shouldn’t have any problems with either.

My Corkcicle tumbler is not retaining temperature

There are various reasons this may happen, including:

A defective lid: If your Corkcicle tumbler lid is defective, it may not be able to retain heat or cold. To troubleshoot this issue, contact customer service for a replacement lid.

A damaged straw: If the part of the straw that goes into the drink has become worn down and cracked due to wear and tear, then you might need a new straw.

A damaged or defective tumbler: If your Corkcicle tumbler is defective, then it may not be able to retain temperature as well as a working one would. Again, contact customer service for a replacement unit.

Tips for keeping drinks as cold or hot as possible in your Corkcicle tumbler

Ensure your drink is hot or ice-cold before you put it into the tumbler

You want to make sure your drink is either very hot or cold before putting it into the tumbler. This will help the temperature to remain more stable for more extended periods while in transit.

Keep the lid completely closed.

Ensure that the lid is completely closed to avoid any steam hold opening unexpectedly. This can often happen if you are moving around with your tumbler, so be sure that it’s not open at all times.

Use ice

Stack some ice cubes in the bottom of your tumbler to help keep things cool longer. If possible, try using larger ice cubes because they will melt slowly and will not affect the drink’s temperature over time.

Are Corkcicle tumblers dishwasher-safe?

Unfortunately, most Corkcicle’s stainless steel tumblers are not dishwasher safe. This is because the high-temperature water that comes from a dishwasher can damage and warp them.

However, you should still be able to quickly rinse out your tumbler if needed by hand with warm water and soap.

Another reason you should avoid putting a Corkcicle tumbler in the dishwasher is that it may introduce moisture into your tumbler’s air-tight seal, which can cause leakage.

What are some things to look for in a good Corkcicle tumbler?

When choosing my own Corkcicle tumbler, I looked for whether or not it had an air-tight seal because this would help to ensure that no water would leak out or get in.

I also looked for a straw with small holes because it helps prevent leaking from the top of my tumbler, and it allows me to suck up ice cubes without them getting stuck together too much.

Another thing you might want to consider is whether or not you want a straw and lid that is removable so it’s easy to clean. Some Corkcicle tumblers come with this feature, but others do not – so keep the cleaning process in mind when making your purchase.

Final Thoughts

While Corkcicle tumblers are not 100% leakproof, you should still be able to enjoy your drink without worrying about spills and leaks.

However, if you continue to experience any issues with leaking, please contact customer service for a replacement unit.

Hopefully, this article has helped you decide whether Corkcicle tumblers are leakproof based on their own claims and what I have experienced with the ones I’ve owned.
